On September 1, Joe Kennard and Tim Rice of FedEx Express in Oriskany presented Superintendent of Schools Rocco Migliori with a $2,100 check for the Primary and Upper elementary schools to purchase school supplies. The donation was made possible through the FedEx Northeast Region’s “50 x 50 Campaign.”
As part of the campaign, FedEx raised funds for at least 50 people/organizations in 50 places across the Northeast. FedEx Express in Oriskany hosted a golf tournament at Skenandoa Golf Club on August 20 to raise funds for three local schools to purchase school supplies. In addition to Westmoreland’s Primary and Upper elementary schools, Rome’s Louis Denti Elementary School and Utica’s Donovan Middle School also each received $2,100.
The schools were chosen by the golf tournament’s corporate sponsors. GPO Federal Credit Union chose Westmoreland; STARR Mechanical selected Louis Denti Elementary School; and BM Farms picked Donovan Middle School.
This year marked the second year of the “50 x 50 Campaign,” and second time FedEx Express in Oriskany held a golf tournament to raise funds for local schools. Last year, Oriskany’s FedEx Express donated to schools in the Waterville, Sauquoit Valley and Utica school districts.
The Westmoreland Central School District thanks FedEx for its philanthropy!
