Ten Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School students participated in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Zone 4 Area All-State Music Festival at Little Falls High School on November 18 and 19.

Concert Band students

The festival features the finest student musicians from high schools in Oneida, Herkimer and Oswego counties. All or parts of the three counties make up “Zone 4” of NYSSMA.

Only about 200 of the nearly 800 students who auditioned for the festival were selected to participate. Students were selected based on their NYSSMA solo score from the spring of 2022 and teacher recommendations. Students prepared and performed a level 5 or 6 solo to be considered.

The student musicians participated in one of four ensembles – string orchestra, concert band, mixed choir and treble choir. A guest conductor rehearsed with and then led each ensemble in a concert.  Mixed Choir students

The Westmoreland students selected to participate were:

Mixed Choir – Grady DePasquale, Arianna Robinson, Kamdyn Stanek

Treble Choir – Ashlynn Clanton, Allison Davis, Sophia Larish

Congratulations to all of Westmoreland’s students who were selected to participate in the NYSSMA Zone 4 Area All-State Music Festival!  Treble Choir students
