Board of Education policy permits student directory information to be released to outside groups without individual consent. The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) defines student directory information as: name, address, telephone listing, date and place of birth, major field of study, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height (if members of athletic teams), degrees and awards received and the name of the educational agency or institution previously attended by the student.
Parents and students have the right to refuse this release of information. If you do not wish to have your child’s directory information released, please include the student’s name and date of birth in a letter to the appropriate building principal prior to October 1 of the current school year.
