SAT

The SAT is a national college admission examination that consists of subject area tests. SAT results are accepted by virtually all U.S. colleges and universities. The test consists of: Math, Critical Reading and Writing. Total possible score is 2,400. Registration takes place online. There are changes to the SAT that will take effect in 2016.

ACT

The ACT is a national college admission examination that consists of subject area tests. ACT results are accepted by virtually all U.S. colleges and universities. The test consists of: English, Math, Reading, Science and Writing (optional). Total possible composite score is 36. Registration takes place online.

PSAT

The PSAT is a dress rehearsal for the SAT. And, if you score high enough, it might also lead to a scholarship.

If there's one moment when the whole "college thing" starts to get very real, it's when you sit down to take the PSAT. It's the kick-off to college admission testing.
