UPPER ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL MESSAGE TO PARENTS ABOUT NYS TEST
Good Morning Upper Elementary Families,
I hope everyone had a WONDERFUL spring break! Just a reminder that we will administer the New York State ELA Assessment next Wednesday, April 22nd and Thursday, April 23rd. We will begin the assessment right away each morning so I ask that you please have your child to school on time so that we do not disrupt the other students who have started the test. I encourage parents to have their child participate in the two day assessment as it is one of many various points of data we use to plan future instruction. If you plan on opting your child out, please write a note or email myself/main office as we need to have documentation on file.
I also ask that you please make sure your child charges their Chromebook the night before as they will be taking the assessment on the Chromebook.
Our kiddos are going to do awesome on this assessment! The students and staff have worked so hard this year!
Have a WONDERFUL week!
Mr. Haskell

The Select Choir has been selected to perform in Albany for Music in Our Schools Month. They will be performing between 11:30 and 12:15 in the South Concourse of the Empire State Plaza in recognition of Music in Our Schools Month.
After they perform and eat lunch, they will be going to the observation deck and taking a tour of the Capitol.

The honor is presented annually and recognizes school districts' safety efforts as they work to help keep students, staff and visitors safe. Westmoreland Central School District received its award at Utica National's 44th school safety seminar, one of six such seminars the company hosts in the state. For over 50 years Utica National has kept kids and school staff safe and currently insures more than 300 school districts in upstate New York alone.
Westmoreland Central School District officials accepted a certificate to commemorate the district's safety efforts and a $500 grant to support their ongoing school safety program.
