Our district hosted a Principal's Walk earlier this week! Principal's from surrounding school districts were invited to Westmoreland to observe Mrs. Kanclerz's math class. After the lesson they discussed what they liked and what improvements could be made! We are always looking for ways to keep our students are engaged!

The students in the Westmoreland Primary Elementary School recently demonstrated grit and determination as they participated in American Ninja Warrior - Bulldog Edition. An obstacle course was set-up in the Westmoreland Primary School gymnasium and the students were able to conquer this challenge during physical education classes. The course included rock climbing, swinging over alligators, over/under and many more physical challenges! Great job to everyone who participated!
There will be a parent meeting for all seniors attending the trip to NYC/NJ on Monday May 15th at 5:30 p.m. in the High School Library. Important information and paperwork will be given out at the meeting. The Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School Drama Club put on an awesome show over the weekend! "Honk!" the musical is a story about an ugly duckling who falls into his mother's nest and is rejected by almost everyone. Its meant to send a message of tolerance! Enjoy the photo gallery below:

A message from Mr. Migliori:
"The Westmoreland Central School District along with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an incident that occurred earlier today where a student made alarming comments and immediately went home. Officials with the Sheriff’s Office were notified and met the student at the home, at which time the individual and the parents were interviewed about such comments. Out of an abundance of caution the campus was closed during lunches. Our schools are always on “Lockout”, and we have a police presence in all of our buildings. We will not tolerate inappropriate comments at any point in time. Safety is our top priority and we will continue to investigate any such concern and take appropriate action."
A message from Superintendent Rocco Migliori about an incident:
“Earlier today a distraught student in the Jr/Sr High School made some inappropriate comments and abruptly walked out of the building. I immediately contacted law enforcement, the school's School Resource Officer, and began to search for the student. Because we were unable to locate the student before lunch began, I closed the campus for lunch so as to not interfere with the investigation by law enforcement. At no time was anyone in danger. The purpose of closing the campus was to assist law enforcement until the student could be located and thankfully it was a success. Please know that our buildings are on “Lockout” everyday as part of normal procedures to ensure the safety of all students, staff and the community.”

On Thursday, families got to learn all about starfish, sharks and owls at Animal Night! Students were experts on their animal and could answer any questions they were asked!

Earlier this week some of our students took a trip to New York Energy Zone! They learned how to build a lightbulb, fly a drone over powerlines and went back in time with Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison! By the looks of it, they had a blast!

Our Boys Tennis Team fought hard at the CSC Tournament yesterday at the Utica Parkway Tennis courts! This was the first time in three years the team competed in this tournament and they represented our district with skill and honor! Congratulations!

They love our students like one of their own! Our district wouldn't be as amazing as it is without them! Even though we appreciate them everyday, we want recognize all of our teachers on National Teacher Appreciation Day! Thank you for all that you do!
It's ready! The Westmoreland Town Park is opening for the season today! A big thank you to the town's highway department, our Athletic Director and Westmoreland Baseball for making sure all the fields look beautiful!

KINDERGARTEN FAMILIES: Don't forget about our family night at the Primary Elementary School! You'll get a chance to see what your child learned in their weather and climate unit! Get there any time between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Here's a little preview of what the students have been working on!
